Life is messy. Living and Dying, Laughing and Crying, Sinning and Living Righteous lives, Learning and Instructing, Loving Friends and Enemies alike (or at least attempting to). God calls us to live among people accompanied by their messes and to make the world a better place through our living. Join me as I work to clear away my mess. Everyone's welcome because we all have messes. Some are just more obvious than others.

Examples of School

Right now for school since we have finished Math-U-See Alpha, we are working constantly on our addition and subtraction facts. Both of the older two know their facts, but I don't want to move on until we have better speed for Ian and slightly better accuracy for Jordan. We'll move on to Math-U-See Beta when I feel their facts are up to where I want them.

In grammar each week, we review synonyms and antonyms, whether a or an comes before certain words, we classify sentences, and we journal. Here is an example of one of today's sentences to classify. "The excited boys waved wildly at the passengers." They have to tell what part of speech each word is, to tell the complete subject, and to tell the complete predicate.

For social studies, we have been doing geography most of the time. The two older ones know their land formations. They know their continents. They know most of the states, all of their capitols. They know most of the countries in North, Central, and South America, as well as many of the countries in the rest of the world. We are getting ready to start Veritas Press's History - Egypt series as well as Veritas Press's Genesis through Joshua for Bible. The two overlap a lot, so I thought I'd do them together. Before we get into that though, we're listening to Vision Forum's "BC" from the History of the World Mega pack. Today's listening was the Genesis Flood.

We do Bible in worship which we do twice a day, and the kids read for about an hour each afternoon. It sounds like a lot, but there is still so much play time for all. It really works well for us.
